I joined KPMG a while ago from federal consulting. Federal consulting had super good work life balance but I’ve been working at KPMG strategy for a while now. Has anyone ever had to deal with a situation where the main product of the company has been built in a way that makes it very tough to scale, adapt to new use cases and add new features? How do I be a decent manager to a coworker who's upset I've been promoted twice in two years and they haven't? We started out as coworkers, became decent friends after a few good moments, but went back to simply coworkers after they flubbed a few projects and I had to step in to clean up. I'm non-confrontational but year-end reviews are right around the corner and I'm worried about having to act professional to someone who I got too close with and who now hates me.
