What’s your game plan post-MBA?
I've got a job offer from Deloitte Latvia ( Deloitte Central Europe) for the Riga City. The gross compensation is 3000€/monthly along with one time 2500€ as a relocation allowance with other benefits like 45€/month as Telephone reimbursement etc & other usual Deloitte benefits. Currently I've a ctc of 11 LPA at EY & 3.5 YOE. Is it worth accepting the offer after all calculations. #Deloitte #Europe #Latvia . Deloitte EY . Kindly provide some insights if u have any .

Sounds like Lori Lightfoot is overcompensating 🤦♂️. We want a functional justice system not a kangaroo court
Yeah I think this is a CYA attempt for the backlash progressives are getting right now for soft on crime approach.

Mayor Beetlejuice being tough on crime is the biggest surprise here
Seems like there’s more context but I don’t read it as she’s saying something malicious. I think it reads more as a nod to her DA’s office that they’re so thorough when charges come, they’re often convicted.

It's dangerous for a politician to even allude to the fact that people are presumed guilty. Bail is a thing for a reason. I understand that we have our issues in the city but this isn't where I want us to sacrifice to make it safer
The phrasing is terrible, but cut for context. “We shouldn’t be locking up nonviolent individuals just because they can’t afford to pay bail. But, given the exacting standards that the state’s attorney has for charging a case, which is proof beyond a reasonable doubt, when those charges are brought, these people are guilty,” Lightfoot said. “Of course they’re entitled to a presumption of innocence. Of course they’re entitled to their day in court. But residents in our community are also entitled to safety from dangerous people, so we need to keep pressing the criminal courts to lock up violent dangerous people and not put them out on bail or electronic monitoring back into the very same communities where brave souls are mustering the courage to come forward and say, ‘this is the person who is responsible.’ ”
😬 still bad
Sounds like she needs to take a constitutional law class

I think the bail system is abused on both ends. Criminals get out of jail and commit more crimes and bondsmen get rich cuz they’ll take the money hoping the person skips bond etc

Maybe a context issue. For example there is a super high bar to charge someone for criminal tax evasion. Basically DOJ and IRS never want to bring a criminal case against someone that lacked criminal intent. Thus, the statistics on criminal tax prosecutions rates are 95% plus because just bring the indictment is already super hard.
Maybe these comments were reflective of something similar that the criminal charges are brought after very significant scrutiny.
I don't know, not really defending it one way or the other, but if someone said that DOJ just bringing a criminal tax evasion indictment means the person is guilty...that would have a lot of technical truth to it. Despite the fact that the jury still needs to decide, etc.
She isn’t right often, but she is in this instance.
