Hi Guys,
I have been assigned to a Unbillable Project, they are building one app and have recruited people from the talent pool. The project is not registered in GLOW. And they are calling it as Voluntary Contribution type project for studio. Is this what they call Internal Project in Globant?
Will there be any impact if I don't perform as per their expectations?
Will it be of any benefit to me if work in voluntary project? Will HR recognize this project contribution as valid work?

What city in the US do they work in? A lot of the big cities have a really high cost of living. However it looks like on average it is 21% cheaper to live in the UK compared to the US. And that numbers drastically going to change based on actual locations. It looks like he’s making about 40% more than you. The only way I could see that being justified is if he is living in one of the major cities in the US. Which in that case the amount he makes would look high on paper to you, but when it comes down to affording the necessities to live, he may have significantly less left over after having to pay for things like rent and food here because they are so expensive. I live in a smaller city of only about 100,000 people at the cheapest rate I could find was still $1900 for a one bedroom. It’s just expensive everywhere in the US right now. you should be able to figure out the math of if he is getting over paid since you know the specific cities and just throw it into a ratio to give you comparable percentages. If you want to private message me, I can help you with that. But just based on the information you have provided, I think you may be a touch underpaid. Assuming he’s living in a larger city he probably should be at a higher wage than you but your still seems a touch low.
thank you. annoyingly a friend of mine (UK based) just left the company and they only offered her 3k to stay which was nowhere near her offer and she was (imo) more valuable to the business than I am. the HR teams are completely independent between uk and us so there are clearly no standards in competing offers. So I can't imagine they'll be able to keep me and I'd find it hard to stay once I start looking elsewhere. Once my mind is moving on its hard to stay put..!
I think this is very common. I make significantly more in the US (I’m not over compensated for the work, it’s competitive for my role and industry) than my peers in the UK.
thank you!
There’s a larger cost of living in US generally. Another thing to consider is the UK social system and what we have to pay for in the US out of pocket. But otherwise, I still think you’re being a bit underpaid. I’d look for another job and use it as leverage to increase your own salary (or take the other job if it’s worth it). Or negotiate to get the same salary as the senior designer - again, since you live in the UK, I think you have more social benefits from the government.
