I am a little annoyed in the job hunt. There are jobs that can be done in any office, yet law firms are inflexible about staffing them outside of a narrowly chosen place.

There’s about 100 legitimate candidates per opening these days, so they don’t need to accommodate.

Employers would disagree and think there’s value in having everyone under the same roof.

To their limited credit, our current remote/hybrid structures leave a lot to be desired. But, over the next few years we can expect to see these perks come back with a redesign that mitigates many of their current shortcomings.

I was actually contacted by a recruiter to sit in an office in my current city and was told I'd be working for 3 partners. After the call I looked at the firm and they only have 3 partners in my field and they all work in NJ, but want someone for my local office.

Owners frequently do things we might think are dumb or illogical. Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t.

TLDR, if you don’t want to be subject to someone else’s dumb rules, be your own boss.
Then you’re only subject to your own dumb rules.

I started working for a law firm at home. Doing collections. The bossman was so impressed he invited me to work at the firm.

Hi fishes,

I need some guidance from you all.
I have 1.9 years of experience in L2 support . I want to switch to Data Analyst. Can you guide how can i proceed with it? Will it be the right decision.

I switched my company 3 months ago for a kind of similar role thinking I will have more exposure to technologies but as it is a product based company, I am supporting their own product only.

I am feeling directionless these days. Please guide me.

I struggle to admit this (because more drastic examples come to mind), but my therapist mentioned that things like yelling/throwing things/blocking me from leaving the room are also abusive traits my ex demonstrated. I’m a mentor for a summer associate who I believe could be a great lawyer here (V100, small market if that matters). However, it is apparent he has no understanding of technology (redlines, word, excel). Based on his background, I believe it’s due to a lack of access. Would you ever recommend to your firm that he be given a course to catch up? Should I try and get him training on my own? Stay out of it? I dont want to overstep but believe this would help him as this puts him way behind his peers
