For double the compensation, burn away!
I'd say its nothing personal, just business
You’d be crazy not to take that job.
Get out of your own way and takr the $190k boost, bro.
Nah man everybody knows insurers are shitty. The people that work for them know this just as well as the people who fight against them. Nobody will take it personally.
Watch out for conflicts. It’s hard to navigate with that switch but other than that, switch away!
Come to my firm (insurer side defense boutique)!I make $300k plus bonus for 1900 hours requirement. Fully remote option available. People are genuinely awesome
Yes please!
FWIW I also work at a insurance defense-side firm and I’ve had two offers to go to in-house with a client. Both times, my firm was super supportive if I wanted it. I was transparent with them about the offers and they immediately switched to client preservation mode; if I still like the firm after I leave, I’m more likely to refer cases to them as outside counsel for things we can’t/don’t want to handle in house. Think of it as the next stage in networking for them.
I rejected those bc pay/culture didn’t fit and I like my firm enough (for now lol) but if you can make double, I say do it. At best, they’ll understand and not want to burn that bridge. At worst, they’ve shown they suck and you made the right call.
You owe nothing to your current firm.
It’s double the pay. Is there a question in your post?
How you leave is how you avoid burning bridges. As AA1 said, say it’s business not personal. Express your thanks and appreciation, if warranted. They know they can’t compete with that and will understand. In my experience NEPs and EPs feel “hurt” when it’s another defense firm, but even then they usually understand. It’s the nature of the industry. The only person guaranteed to look out for you is you.
Money can rebuild that bridge burn away
Take the money
