I am planning on leaving teaching after 6 years in the classroom. I am not really sure where to start or what teachings skills translate to certain jobs. Any advice on where to start?

Not sure if you're looking for something more flexible or even to help in the meantime while you transition into something else but I work in the e-commerce space very part time. It’s not very structured (more flexible) and completely remote but I create my own structures after I work my 9-5. I've made on average $2000 a month since I started 14 months ago (on top of working my 9-5). Would be happy to share more if you're interested. ☺️ you would have all the kills you need, especially after working in a school system (which is what I do also) :)

I am interested also.

Prison Guards are in High Demand in the State of Ohio. Teachers are also a big part of The Correctional Education Association. I am aware that Ohio specifically sends all teachers and security staff through their Ohio Corrections Training Academy in Orient Ohio. I spent ten rewarding years as a career technical education instructor. Many of my former colleagues wereLiteracy Specialists GED instructors. I still know corrections officers who are are students ll there. They all say “there are a lot of changes that make it not at all close to how it used to be.”

CORRECTION for clarification: It should read “I still know corrections officers and teachers who work there. The vague “across the board comment” of how all the new administration’s changes are making it different from what was experienced by OD R & C during previous administration, seem to be based around some of the old state perks that used to be in place when the “Good old Boy/SafetyFamilyUnity” mentality still existed. Safety issues but nothing specific that anyone necessarily feels the needs to put into writing—that’s my best guest opinion.
It is also my opinion that some of the very finest men and women work for both the Department of Corrections as Teachers, as well as serving the Institutions Security Departments and other internal positions. Good luck to you in your search. I found that many young inmates need dedicated mentors to guide them. When they feel valued and respected by you, they want to make you proud of them. You will jointly, yet separately experience this respect as it grows.

I am an IT architect with 10 years of experience specifically in Salesforce products. I am thinking of moving from a strategy consulting role to an architecture role in Salesforce (company) itself. I have experience building tech strategies and also technical project delivery.

Wondering if it makes sense to apply for an Enterprise Architect (pre-sales) or a Senior Technical Architect role??

Also in terms of seniority and salary are these roles any different?

What does it mean if there’s a NEP at the firm who’s been there for a long time (20+ years), but never got promoted to EP? Never held leadership roles too. Does it usually mean EPs does not like the NEP enough to get promoted?

The NEP has a book of business, though no idea how much it brings in.

I'm an introverted person, like to keep to myself, focus on work, spend the rest of my time on family, gym etc. I've been told that I need to work on my communication and client relationship building skills. any books I can read? I don't follow pop. culture anymore, no longer actively follow team sports (but sporty myself) as I consider it bread and circus for the masses and don't rly enjoy work drinks... Am I doomed? Personally I am happy and love the work but fear for my career progression.

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

Hey all! I have an interview with
Deloitte in Regulatory Risk and more precisely in their Investment Management Services team. I would like to know if anyone
knows what the job entails exactly. I keep hearing about people "fooled" into taking a job in risk advisory thinking it'll really be advisory while they only end up doing IT and Audit support (which I do not want to do).
Is it the case here?
Thanks!

Additional Posts in Thinking of leaving teaching?

I finally did it. I quit and turned in my resignation in June. I’m now have been working from home for United Health Care. I wished I would have done this years ago. I started teaching right out of college 20 years ago and thought all jobs were as bad as teaching I was so wrong. My new job is not stressful I now have a normal life and look forward to going to work.
