Why would you offer to pay back the previous years just to get the spot for $75 less a month going forward? Did you work out the break even for that? You negotiation comes down to leverage, if you are willing to leave then fight them for what you think is right. If not, then just be glad you didn’t have to pay for parking for a year and pay the $200 starting now.
This is the answer…you got free parking for a year that’s awesome! Move at the end of your lease if you don’t like the rate.
and she did this kind of stuff. Now they're saying they'll give me a new spot but charge me $200 a month. I know the rate was originally $125 according to friends who live in the building, but they claim those people were grandfathered into the $125 from last year and the rate went to up $200 four months ago. I found a recent tenant who signed a lease after the rate increase and she is also still paying $125. I think they're trying to fuck me over with this $75 difference and idk what to do. I absolutely need a parking spot and if I push back a lot, I'm scared they'll say okay then there is no available parking for you (they claim they have a "waitlist"). But I'm also not okay getting jipped. I even offered to back pay the years worth of parking at $125 and then continue at that rate but they said no, its $200. What are my rights here?! What can I do?! This is so wrong

If you have anything in writing that defines the parking is free and for a specific length of time, then for that length of time you should be protected. If that time frame expired, you are probably out of luck. If you already offered $125 and they won’t take less than $200, chances are they won’t budge on that. They are within their right to increase the parking fees to what they deem is appropriate.
Fight back. Politely and professionally.
Yes I did calculate the break even for this. I am planning on staying here for 2.5 more years. At the rate of $200, they will make $1200 more even if I pay back the years worth of parking.
