Currently a paralegal at a small start up financial services company been there for just a little over a year. I wear “multiple hats” but more recently I’ve done a lot of PM work and some BA work. My position title is changing soon but I’m wondering how helpful that would be for wanting to go into PM work at a tech company. Anyone have any career pivot advice? LinkedIn is a garbage app where I can’t even post my opinion or experience because it will go against the mainstream ideologies. If I even “like” a post then I worry that my peers and managers see what I like and suddenly I need inclusivity training. What a load of shit! You can’t be who you truly are on that app. Which is why I like fishbowl so much, the anonymity is a game changer. VENT: I feel completely demotivated after our new FOW announcement and it gave me whiplash. Working here has been a dream, so it feels weirdly hurtful to be publicly celebrated as part of the “expanded talent pool” in announcements, but be told privately that my return to the office will be accompanied by a massive pay cut because of where I live. As more details surrounding the Uvalde shootings emerge, my heart just breaks. Just learned that the gunman was in the school for an hour while parents were outside frantically trying to get in to save their kids.

Also, the husband of Irma Garcia (one of the teachers who lost her life) died of a heart attack today after visiting the memorial. The couple had four kids. I can’t even imagine losing one parent to this horrific tragedy and losing the other within 48 hours.

Got hired on part time for equity to do corporate strategy at a startup and that funding should hit in the Fall. Now it sounds like funding isn’t likely until we get a better following and I’ve been asked to do one reel and one blog a week (for minimal equity only) with all of my own content (photos, videos etc)

My company is actually pretty damn great to work for. So many love it, but our pay is low compared to the rest of the financial sector, and so when people with great experience come knocking, HR denies them because the ask is outside the price range. So mangy managers are pushing back but damn. Why shoot yourself in the foot like that?
