I confidently gave advice in a meeting, only to realise halfway through that I had misread the policy update last week. I corrected myself, but my pride took a hit. 😅 HR humility is very real. When was the last time you had to own a mistake publicly?

A couple weeks back. I sent the wrong version of a file in an email with maybe 15 people on it. I realized it immediately, but still had two responses alerting me to the fact before I could correct it and send the right file 😂😭.

I felt that. It is always the “reply all” moments that sting most. I try to remind myself that correcting it quickly shows more credibility than pretending it did not happen. Still humbling though.

It shakes my confidence a bit when I’m just so confidently wrong. Happens, and you just fix it and move on the best you can. We are all just learning as we go in life.

That phrase “confidently wrong” is painfully accurate. I think owning it out loud is uncomfortable but powerful. I would rather be known for correcting myself than doubling down on something inaccurate.
