I debated for a long time whether to put the green "Open to Work" banner on my profile after my layoff. Some career coaches say it reeks of desperation; others say it’s the only way to beat the algorithm. I eventually added it because pride doesn't pay the bills. But it does feel like wearing a scarlet letter. Do you think the green banner helps you get found, or does it signal "distressed asset" to hiring managers?

My cousin is in great shape physically and I know he could get through that part of basic training/boot camp but don't know if he could handle all the yelling because of past trauma he's been through. Thoughts / advice?

I am a sixth-year associate overseeing a second year. They are an exceptionally good associate. I am honestly shocked at the work product I receive and the way they go above and beyond. The issue I have is that they sometimes take awhile to turn things around. For example, I ask for a draft response to the client, and they take three-four days. I know they’re busy, but I would like to address this in a positive way. Any suggestions?
