Got an offer from FAANG in finance / accounting. How do you compare the offer if you are currently in a company where total comp is just base + bonus? I know a lot of tech companies value TC that includes RSUs but not sure how to compare. Base and bonus for current and new company is about the the same so to me the difference is in the RSUs and upside at FAANG. Thoughts?Facebook (Meta) Netflix Apple Amazon Google

I’m not aware of designated services per se, but have you considered networking? If I were you, I would try to build a few relationships with other CPAs who you can reach out to and/or refer clients to with tax situations above your comfort level. We do this for some specialty tax services at my firm i.e. aviation tax consulting, complex state work, etc. We consult with them, they may do some analysis, they bill us, we prepare the return(s). They refer clients to us as well. Try to build mutually beneficial relationships.
I have tried networking but i haven’t really had any luck finding what I’m looking for. I know I could find someone to take my referrals but for some clients I’d like to still be Involved. So I haven’t had luck finding someone to help me with review or questions that come up, even when I’ve offered to pay. I’ve met folks who are like “call me with questions” but I know when it’s crunch time then I’ll just be a nuisance. I frankly would rather pay someone for the time and feel good about the help they are giving me!
When I was recruiting in college with a local firm, they talked about being part of the “McGladrey Alliance” (now RSM) and being able to call them for a 2nd opinion. Maybe they still have that, and something like that would work for you?
I may have to look into this. That sounds great!
Are there any services out there that act as consultants if you have questions on a return, would like them to review it for a fee, or if a return is too complicated, will do it under your umbrella? I’m not trying to get rich off of doing tax returns. Just trying to provide an added service for my clients. I know there are CPAs in my community but I always feel like a bother to them when I ask questions, even when I offer to pay them.
