You’re not alone - many college graduates are finding themselves in a hostile job market.
Sending good vibes your way.
This is a huge problem with many complex factors involved. The current presidential administration is working to fix this.
How does deporting foodservice workers and dry wallers open accounting positions?
If your willing to start small, like an accounting clerk or a/p clerk, youay have better luck getting your foot in the door. Then you show what you have and are building a resume.
I have the exact opposite problem. 20 years in Accounting but no degree. Seems to me like everyone wants a degree.
Forest you gotta get your food in the door. Then show what you can do most people don’t pay you more until after the 3 months
Hey buddy, sorry to hear what you are going through. Exact same thing I was going through back in 2020 and 2021. I think you should reevaluate what positions you are applying to. Try to apply for grad schemes if possible, or internships. Do reach out to people on LinkedIn as well for those in actual accounting roles not the Big 4 guys as they won’t be able to do much referrals at all.
Also - explore other roles such as advisory, consulting, management accounting etc. These are some good roles and hopefully one of them sticks buddy.
Good luck and genuinely wish you the best!
The best way to get on the job experience is temp work placements
Are they hard to get? I want to quit my toxic job and I am willing to go temp because I also am not getting a response to my resume even though I have years of experience!
CRA tax needs volunteer every year … They train you for free .. it’s a very good way to gain first on hand experience
You needed to intern while you were in college and leverage that for an opportunity. Now that that shit has sailed, consider picking up contract (temp gigs) through an agency until you get noticed by the places you’re applying to (or maybe the temp job will offer perm if you do well). Have to finesse any way you can to make it happen. Get creative
What was your degree in? If you are wanting to work in public accounting, it is good to do an internship (I'd recommend you do several to determine what firm/specialty area you want to work in).
Get a cpa certification. Or an mba. Go to hr block for seasonal work and a bullet for your resume.
Don’t do mba right away unless absolutely necessary. Focus on job first. Speaking from experience. Feel like no one gives a shit about it.
Go work for a bank as a teller and look for opportunities to move up internally or get experience and look elsewhere. You can rub shoulders with the right people and get a gig in their corp section.
Consider looking at smaller CPA firms. You learn a ton of info OJT.

Great way to get some sort of experience
Internship is likely the only way
Try the larger companies like PACCAR larger corporations tend to value book knowledge over experience. I'm like the other person that commented on the opposite. I have 30 years experience as a full charge bookkeeper and I've been a cost accountant, staff accountant, I've done taxes, but the really good jobs I don't want, only want a CPA or BA in finance. I'm sure they want experience as well. But not everyone accepts equivalent of a degree. O have the equivalent of a masters.
You can start out doing taxes or work for a bookkeeping firm. Do taxes during tax season and take temp positions for a little experience ass to get to know different software.
They did t have you guys do anyone he kobtrqini.g.fpe your degree?
College admin is also a good place to apply.
Whats your degree in?
