Pretty rare, I’ve promoted someone twice in a year, but only once in 18 years.
One scenario I think think of: Associate who is acting senior for several years without the “senior” title because he can’t pass the exam. Say he’s a 6th year. Then he finally passes the exam. So then he gets the senior promotion, and then a year later gets bumped up to manager since he’s already been acting senior for several years.
Doesn’t seem possible.
Screw promotions 😂
Never, but if you hear why they got promoted that quickly, I would love to hear why.
Mid cycle promotions aren't unheard of but are pretty rare. Generally it is because you have been held back, though, and then something changes warranting reconsideration and not because you are being promoted twice. A promotion this year and then a promotion next year is also possible and actually more common than mid cycle but also somewhat rare. You would want to start making your case now and setting the expectation now though; by no means should you expect it to simply happen. You need to convince the leadership group it's rational and worth the optics.
It is and it's been done several times. Not easy and usually based on a need.
Possible. Not often
It's possible, however is very strange that happend
It doesn’t seem possible
Yes, I see people getting promoted left and right and I cant even get out of my current role!!! It’s all about who you know!!!
Really EY1? Trust me, people above you will be glad to see you grow and get promoted. You might want to take ownership of the reason why you are not getting promoted. I see a few people who get stuck at their level but do not make an effort to grow and move forward. If you help yourself and others, people above you will be happy to jump in and help you.
Someone got promoted to manager, quit then joined another firm as senior manager.
If no good, you'll struggle and suffer. If you're good, you may be fortunate to get into this position, but it's not for everyone.
Nope, never heard of it.
The only possible scenario I can think of is that a partner leaves due to unforeseen event and then newly promoted directors is promoted to partner they need partners to sign off and stuff.
I have never seen this. Early promotions, yes... not twice in one year. OP-what scenario did you think it could apply in?
