I always recommend the “begin with the end in mind” thought process. Start big. Where do you want to end your career? And then work backwards on the steps needed to get there.
Oh, I’ve been there, I know exactly how this feels.. For me, celebrating small wins made a huge difference. things like: taking 10 minutes a day to learn something new, or even just talking to someone in a different team about what they’re working on. I set a “one small win a week” goal and it helped shift mine mindset completely.
Do you think it's the environment you're in? Like is there limited room for growth at your company? Or do you think you've just outgrown the role in general? Whatever the situation, the fact that you're even recognizing the desire to progress is something to be proud of. Many of us push those thoughts to the side (myself included) and never make it as far as we have the ability to go.
I think it’s both… there seems to be no room for growth due to constant restructuring/cost cutting and I’ve outgrown the role too. Interesting, I assumed most people did want to progress.
When you say you feel stuck do you mean you want to move up the career path and its not happening, or you just don't love what you are doing? Either way I would have a conversation with your manager about what you can do to find passion in your role again.
The first, which has essentially led to the second!
