“Get thick skin” is not helpful and does no one any good.
Healthy and productive communication starts with mutual respect. Ineffective communication usually stems from a lack of emotional intelligence. In my experience, it’s usually a reflection of the one “talking down” and not the receiver. I can’t provide any good advice because it’s all easier said than done. Depending on the type of person you are working with and the severity, you could try to address it but if they were openminded enough to hear you out, you probably wouldn’t be there in the first place. You can’t “fix” other people. They have to be willing to do that work themselves. I hope the situation gets better for you! Remember, it’s probably not you. Don’t let anyone turn you cold or bitter. Even in business, we need kind and clearer communication.
Unfortunately, that’s not the way the world works. You either gotta let it go or ask them why. Dont let it hurt you, which is why in turn you have to get “thick skin” A$$holes exist, you probably have to work with a few, don’t be one.
I think we have the same sentiment but it’s not always just what you say… but how you say it, right? This response about getting thick skin and saying this isn’t how the world works is part of the problem. I don’t know if you’re the same person that posted the original thick skin comment but I interpreted it as the OP being responsible or at fault. We can all agree that people suck. A$$holes certainly exist and there’s not much we can do about it. The problem is that crappy people exist and not that that people are too soft. Of course, addressing this sort of issue is 100 times trickier in a corporate setting where you don’t want to work up anyone that has the ability to negatively impact your professional life. Sometimes it is simpler to suck it up and move on. That being said, we all have a responsibility to do better and no one *has* to tolerate shitty behavior. It’s ultimately a choice.
Get thick skin. Let it go or ask why someone is doing that to you.
Don’t let people trick you out of your position. And learn how to maneuver in a room full of snakes .
That stinks. Time to post out our work down the street.
I haven't always been buddies with my bosses but they've never been nightmares to work with either.
