I got a title bump and I was super pumped about it, except has really changed. Not my compensation, not my benefits.. heck, not even do I get a bonus? This is absurd right? Or this just something we're supposed to also find normal? Just more work and a little update on your LinkedIn, that's what the new title bump means. I even asked if the raise would come later, but they shrugged it off saying 'we could discuss it in the next quarter'. What does this promotion even mean??

Are you kidding me? They're essentially saying, "Hey, you're doing more work, but we're not going to compensate you for it." It's not just about the LinkedIn update; it's about the value and respect you deserve. When they say "we could discuss it in the next quarter," that's just corporate speak for "don't hold your breath." Stand up for yourself and demand real recognition, not just empty titles. This isn't a promotion; it's a demotion in disguise.

Is it more work/different position (and a true promotion), or simply a title change/revision? Not sure if you have the option, but I declined a promotion in the past until the money came with it.

I’ve always been a big saver minimum 15% to maxing out my 401k since I graduated college. I’m married to someone who thinks 6% is enough and likes $$$ cars. Other than the cars, they dont really spend money. For the married 🐠, how do you have the conversation with them that what they are doing isn’t enough? I try to guide them and say you want the $$$ cars but the salary you have won’t get there and you’re going to have to find a job that gets them the salary…. Then the fight starts.

I am joining Deloitte soon, before putting down my notice with my current employer the background investigation team informed me that except the current employer all elements are completed and finalized. The Current employer verification will be done before the week of the start date. Is it ok to put down the notice now or will there be any additional investigation that needs to be completed that might impact the start date.

My ethnicity makes me a minority but I would never join a minority affinity/business resource group. I think it creates separation which can lead to an “us versus them” mentality - a step backwards. Aren’t we supposed to respect or work towards respecting each other without the need to form institutions to make things “official”? I’d like to hear some thoughts from people who disagree and if they are in these groups or not
