I got rejected from a React role because my recent experience is in Vue, even though I have six years of React experience before that. The hiring manager acted like I had forgotten how JavaScript works because I spent eighteen months in a different framework. The level of specialization they’re demanding now is making it impossible for anyone to be a generalist. When did we stop hiring for ability to learn and start hiring for identical tool matching?

That’s a hot take on their part. Especially when somebody with that experience probably would get denied because they’re not the right culture fit.

I think because they can and also because they think this will be a win for their company if they bring somebody in that an exact match. The reality is that people with a wide range of skills are the most adaptable and probably the best bet, take care, fellow job seeker

Should I leave my first permanent job as a team leader of 4 DPs in a FMCG business (only been there for 4 months) to join a huge Tech business for a 12months contract?

They offer me 60% more money than my permanent role. Circa 2000 dollars every month in my pocket

However, I am worried if I accept the tech role and I do not become permanent I will be looking again for a job in 12-24 months and my CV won't be showing a managerial position. Won't be showing any progress.

Asking advice from a recruiter: I’ve been recently laid off :( This week I took some time to reflect, talk to friends and family. I want to be more thoughtful on my next move and although interviewing right away would be logical I feel I want to take a break and some time for myself. Take a month or two off working and use that time to plan thoughtfully on my next move. Would having that gap in my resume be an issue when I go back to the job market?

How does contract to hire work? If I’m offered $37/hr on w2 for 3 months and then possibly a permanent position, how much can I expect to get annually as a full time company employee as a BI data analyst II? I have a M.S. and certificates in DA but this will be my first job as DA.
I prefer working for what is offered on contract without negotiating, and then negotiate when I transition into the company itself so I have a better chance of getting the contract position and show my skills.

Considering a Product Owner role. Any best practices of what questions to ask during an interview? First phase deals with a virtual Teams interview with the recruiter and her manager on Tuesday. This would be a permanent full-time compared to my current contractor role that ends in March.
