Why do you think your skills are under utilized?
Great question! I spent my last years in school creating models that forecast expected outcomes when given a specific goal. This was mostly in relation to how a group of investments influence the expected growth in a portfolio while staying within defined risk parameters. Now, I spend my days talking on the phone with customers providing answers to any grievances they have about our platform. Given that I specialize in options services, I do enjoy speaking with customers about many of the risks surrounding various options strategies. However, these conversations are far and few between. I find myself wanting more responsibility in a position where I can provide greater impact and grow my professional reputation.
Why do you think you are underqualified? Is it because you lack experience in that area? Or because of skills?

I would go for entry level roles in FP&A still
Learn it on your own and have project portfolio for sql.
You ever considered working at a Big4 account firm.
Try the PWC bowl and make it know you are looking for a referral to get in. Most people on this platform are willing to help.
I did the same thing out of school- went into financial services when I really was wanting a more portfolio investment/analytics role. EVERYONE I spoke to said it was a hard switch but I have done it. Can’t say what will work for you, but here is what I did:
Excelled at my current role even tho I hated it.
Got CFA level 1, and really good at excel/vba.
Took a job in performance/attribution reporting for 2 years with Nuveen.
Currently work in risk-security valuation, working directly with portfolio mgmt and traders, doing dcf/ market analysis.
From what you said I wouldn’t go fpa track, go investments management/investment risk.
CAIA is a shorter and easier track than CFA and will get you into these roles too
You just graduated a year ago so I can’t imagine needing tons of experience to get an entry level job. Keep applying to entry level FP&A jobs and be personable during interviews.
