I gave a textbook, diplomatic answer, but what I wanted to say was that my last manager was a micromanager who took credit for my work and then laid me off via Zoom. It’s exhausting having to rewrite your own career history to make every toxic workplace sound like a valuable learning opportunity. Do you think anyone actually buys into the answers we’re forced to repeat in these interviews?
