I had an interview this morning. Met with 4 sets of partners, the first two went amazing. The last two were all women, and it felt true mean girls vibes. I left feeling totally defeated and without any motivation to get back to work at my current job. Despite the mean girls, I think they might move forward with the process. That said, one mean girl was managing partner. Should I run, or stick it out, with hope that I will work with the friendly partners?

Trust your gut and believe people when they show who they the first time. The job moves I regret the most are the ones I made despite my gut read that I should run away quick.

I just had a similar experience. Could tell from the minute she entered the zoom room that she didn’t “approve” of me. Spent the rest of the interview interrogating me and casting doubt on everything I said. I’m still moving forward!

If you have options, go elsewhere. If you really need this job, and you can figure out whether you’re expected to work directly under her (is she the same practice area?), then still push forward. Don’t let her rattle you, especially in upcoming interviews. But keep in mind that you’ll start the job having to kind of avoid someone, which adds tension to an already stressful job

In my experience, it’s usually the males that don’t really change. The females come around eventually.

What do you do when you feel the goalpost has been/is being moved re: billable requirements? Like there's a spoken vs unspoken? I chose this job based on billables vs salary and what I'm being told I'm expected to do now is 20-30% (at least) > than what was initially agreed upon. Given my other life responsibilities, this is creating a huge strain & I feel like this is slowly getting harder & harder on my spouse & kids. I'm grateful to have lots of good work but not sure how to course correct.
