Youre not supposed to block out, youre supposed to observe and let go
Rising Star
Yes, everyone’s mind has thoughts constantly running through. The idea is to watch them and try not to follow them. But if you do follow one (which everyone does), notice it and bring yourself back. Over and over. That’s the practice. Over time you’ll get better at it.
I’ve heard someone describe it as your mind is a rowboat tied to a dock, and it will keep drifting out with wind, currents, etc. (thoughts). Whenever you notice it drifting, you gently bring it back toward the dock.
I don’t think you should mediate while meditating
This is bound to happen! The important part is to recognize you’ve drifted away and come back to being present.
Remember your breathing. One thing I find helpful is when I count the seconds of my inhales and exhales. It’s kind of like counting sheep for sleeping. If you focus on counting, your mind can’t drift.
Meditation takes practice and it’s ok if your thoughts interrupt. Keep at it!
