I think it could go either way.
Are you the busiest and getting the most work because you are the most competent and produce the best work product?
Or is it because until this point you never turn down work?
Or is it because you’re not getting things done or matters resolved so they are piling up?
I think it’s a combo of the first two. My cases are definitely resolving. I’m just getting jammed up now.
It’s a good thing. This profession is ridiculous. You can only handle what you can handle.
By busiest, is that in hours? if not, you are not the busiest. If you are billing more hours and are less productive at actually getting stuff done, that is also not a good busy. If you are great and everyone wants you to do everything for them, that is a different story. In your position, it is hard to tell which is which. We have had associates tell us they are too busy and they are billing 100-120 hours per month and we are like wtf. We have others bill tons of hours but not get anything done. We are also like wtf. If you are billing way more than others, maybe bring it up and ask for feedback to make sure you aren't billing empty hours.
Definitely hours. Most associates are billing 130-140 and I’m around 175 right now. I think I also have the most matters out of the associates.
