I have 7 YOE and a solid background in insurance claims, but I'm thinking about potential next steps in my career. I'm hoping to find a related role that offers a significant salary bump compared to typical claims positions - ideally without needing extensive new certifications or degrees right away. What specific job titles or types of positions have you seen claims professionals transition into successfully and for a higher salary?

I’ve seen folks with claims experience move into roles like Risk Analyst, Compliance Specialist, or Product Manager at insurtech companies. Some also pivot into Loss Control or Underwriting, especially on the commercial side, better pay, and most don’t require extra certs upfront.

Product managers can have direct reports…if that’s your thing cool if not, Product owner. 😬

Depending on the lines of insurance you have expertise, you may want to explore a position with an insurance broker/agency or private employer. In did the former about 23 years ago and had no regrets. I worked at a smaller agency for two years. With that experience, I was able to move to a mid-size agency. Initially the pay May be less than you’re making as a manager, but getting your foot in the door will open additional opportunities. Look for an agency which offers employees periodic bonuses and profit sharing. More savvy employers are hiring internal claims professionals since HR and safety managers have less knowledge about claims.

Are you open to managing a team? I’ve worked with several claims pros who stepped into supervisor or manager roles and saw a meaningful salary increase without needing additional degrees.

Hey Claims manager, 7 years in the industry is no small feat — clearly, you know what you’re doing.

If you’re serious about a significant income jump, AO Globe Life could be worth a look. We’re 100% remote, union-backed, and the comp structure is aggressive — six figures in year one is not just possible, it’s expected when the system is followed.

I’d be happy to share how the model works and what’s made a lot of seasoned agents make the switch. No pressure, just info — shoot me a message if you’re open to it!

Claims is the backend of Underwriting. You may want to consider being an Underwriter. Or you may want to Supervise.

Hi guys currently I'm working in a project with very stringent timelines. Sometimes we need to put more than 13-14 hrs each day. There are 4 members in my team. Two are involved in database prt and me and my lead are involved in the front end and middle layer prt. Somehow my lead is not at all pleased with my work. And even if I try to talk to him for something he is completely rude. Sometimes it makes me that I m completely useless. Even the other team members are following the lead

Advice on applying to PM jobs with 1yr APM experience?

I’ve been working as an APM at my current company for 1yr, and have basically been doing the work of a full blown PM the entire time. I’ve lead several features from start to finish and made sure to mention in my resume that I have been doing everything a regular PM does. Has anyone ever hired an APM for a PM role or done it yourself? Any tips? Advice?

With product design questions, I struggle to identify user groups. Once I do everything starts flowing and I’m confident. But the initial identification of user groups is something I find challenging. What’s your go-to way of doing this? Are there any good PM certification that’s worthwhile? Not something that’s on Udemy for 2 hours of coursework.
Most “certifications” I’ve seen seem a bit superficial… but my current PM job feels like a glorified project manager role so I was hoping to use my extra time to study/earn a certificate to show my skill. If possible.
