I have a contractor that is taking FOREVER to complete his job and it’s holding up everything else. Drywaller. Agreed to $1800 for material + labor and paid $800 thus far.

Can I just tell him not to come back and go with someone else? It’s been 2 weeks and only half of the sheets are up, with no taping or sanding done yet.

The drywall is yours. Be clear they are fired and for them not to show up on the job site, so you don't have two drywallers arguing on site. Just be aware of the math on the drywall, if it's more than 800 I'd get squared up on that. ( it's not worth the argument) if it's less than just let it go hopefully it's not too far off. Move on, stay positive but firm....time is money and just focus on getting the job done right ASAP.

Yep. I fired someone for this once and it was the right choice.

See spo1 response below. I agree

Did you sign their proposal or have any contract in place?

Then I’d absolutely replace him and keep the material for the replacement to use but I’d make sure you inspect and count it first.

Or, learn drywall on YouTube. F around...find out....just get it done!

I’m mid 30s F. Recently started seeing this guy, where he is “good enough”. Good conversations, decent time together, he has a good heart, but nothing about him shines. - not fit (I work out everyday and play sports), meh social skills (he doesn’t have best friends, just few he hangs out with), bit less energy than me.
There is a feeling in me that says “he’s going to be a comfortable life partner” and “he is just good enough, but if I break up I won’t find someone for a long time”
Do I stay?

We are renovating a condo and the previous owner had two Crane toilets (not sure how old, but functioning although seals are old according to our contractor). Back outlet flour mount ones are the only options for the building, and one toilet can cost $300-$500.

We are redoing all the bathroom tiles and walls and debating what we should do with the two toilets. Would resealing the toilets extend the use life? Or should we just replace the toilets? Any other recommendations? TIA!!

My fictitious debt to income ratio was too high for them to approve me, and it took seven days for my loan to be officially back in repayment. So just a heads up.
