I have a question about credit cards and points. I am planning a solo trip around the world for 12 months. I have the cash to cover basic stays and airfare. Plus the occasional luxury accommodations (when my wife joins me) and airline seat upgrades on longer flights. I have an AMEX gold card with around 100,000 points available to me. I will run most of the major trip expenses through this card. Is it worth it to apply for new cards to amass welcome offer points? Or more trouble than it’s worth?

I will be joining IBM next week in Bangalore ( physical onboarding ) and my hometown is in West bengal , My father is having health problems , mother won't be able to handle everything and no such person we can rely on . Also I am getting married in January . Hence If i stay in Bangalore there will be no one to take responsibility for my marriage prep also . If i convey to my ibm manager will they consider for 4months of WFH?Any documents may have to show?
