An honest comment from someone in your shoes? Don't give up. We're going to make it in the end.
Look at your past applications and look for 2 things you think you could have said better. Maybe was the way you answered. It seems you had a quite strong career, so be sure to apply to positions you fit well.
Sometimes we tend to apply for positions that have too many juniors applying, which could potentially show that you are overqualified.
Sometimes, less is more in your resumé as well. Be specific, and give them what they're asking.
Thank you so much for your time and reply. Your feedback is much appreciated!
I thought that my statement in my cover letter "25 years experience"
would show as a strong candidate.
As you stated, I've been guessing the younger generation is probably getting the jobs and probably at lower pay expectations. I have even applied and interviewed for a company that I worked for in the past and did not get the job, which I thought would be a slam dunk. Boy was I wrong.
As it turns out the pay was
super low, for anyone really, much less someone tenured.
Anyway, thank you again for your feedback!
Back to the drawing board and keep plugging along!!
What kind of positions are you looking for? Remote positions have some heavy competition so for those you may need to find someone who can refer you within the organization to help float your resume to the top of the pile. Additionally, most resumes get filtered through ATS using keywords these days, so your resume, unfortunately, should be fit to each job posting. Focus on quality applications, positions that closely match your needs and qualifications and spend some time ensuring your resume highlights the attributes emphasized in the posting.
To answer your question: my background is in lending and collections for banks, credit unions and finance companies as well.
Thank you so much for your feedback!
It is very much appreciated!
Hi RS, I'm in the same shoes. 25 years and let go due to restructuring.
I customize my resume for each role as well and exclude the year of education, where I can.
Are you including only the past 15 years of experience? I think that might help. I include 19 though, due to an important integration I worked on. I would not include the number of years in the industry. For the salary expectation, I state the middle ground. Tops.
I recently read another thread where it was suggested to exclude your degree if you're applying to much lower positions. Best of luck!
Thank you so much for your feedback! It is very much appreciated!
I'm starting to tweak my resume even more than I already was, based on what each application is looking for.
I have only listed the last 10 years employment on my resume per advice from my unemployment office.
I thought by stating "25 years" would show strength but I'm starting to think that the younger applicants are probably the ones getting the jobs.
You'd think that employers would want more experience but...?
Anyway, thank you again!
Good luck to you as well!
