My alternative suggestion-ENTs suggest that some hair dryers damage hearing but they also are just too loud usually, so I’d recommend earplugs called Loops. They have some that allow sound to filter through so you can wear them at concerts, etc, but ive also worn them in audit rooms where it tends to get chatty or on airplanes with babies crying but can still hear flight attendant etc. it would be cheaper than a new hair tool and could use for other scenarios where you may get overstimulated.
Second Loops, they’re absolutely phenomenal. Wear them on the plane to concerts and festivals and at the actual events and zero complaints. Also if I need to focus at home when my husband is also wfh and is being too loud I plug them right in. So definitely worth a try!
I’m unsure about one that doesn’t blow air but I tired out the shark flexstyle and had the same problem with it being so loud it overstimulated me completely. It’s pricey but I got the dyson air wrap and I have no issues as it’s much more quiet!
