Hello!
I'm italian, 26 yo and currently working in France as financial analyst.
Work environment is great, friendly and multicultural but I don't like the job at all.
Personal life is not so nice since I manage to see my family and gf every 30/45 days only. Colleagues have their own lives and at the end we don't hang out much.
My dilemma is:
A) going back to Italy at a lower salary with less growth opps but better personal life or
B) Switching my job here and hold on

What would you do?

Thx! :)

The ultimate goal of life is to be happy. It's a perfectly valid strategy to push your leisure hours to the future in order to maximize your financial base and career path, but it's also okay to be honest with yourself if you think your long term happiness would be greater if you invested more in your personal life now and were less active in pursuing your professional development. Everyone is different.

Personally I pushed hard for my professional development and now I'm extremely comfortable financially but kind of looking around trying to figure out what makes me happy.

Well said!

Sounds like you miss your family quite a bit. There’s plenty of jobs out in the world. You only get one family though. If you’re miserable why stay at a place that can potentially replace you in a snap of a finger?

It's worth it until you realize that you are not living a proper life without your friends/family/loved ones. Spending weekends alone doing almost nothing and start working again on monday...I don't think it's the best life we can have to be honest :)
On the other side I'm a bit proud of myself because I'm experiencing a new country, meeting new people and facing a challenge.

Hi, I’m a fellow Italian here!
I have no experience dealing with this type of situation but, as other people said, I think your well-being must be the priority.
Otherwise, if you decide to stay in France away from family at least do it for a job you really like. Even better if it allows working from home so you can stay longer in Italy

Skype, WhatsApp, FaceTime or even fly them out. Take the salary in France 🇫🇷, make as much connections. A reason to take a high paying salary in France has a lot of benefit opportunities. Also a lot of hedge funds and investment banks are moving to Paris. You can read that more on efinancialcareers. Keep that hustle and know your making more money in that country to arbitrage and get your parents an even more better life. Girlfriend should be supportive like parents, if not then city boyz up. I am one perspective, but I like to chase dreams so I shoot my shot. Good luck on your decision, ciao!

I would go back home and figure out how to find a role that meets my financial goals, while being surrounded by loved ones. Experiencing loneliness is tough!

Looking for opinions. I’m an IW with 2 yrs experience working from home at a Fortune 500 company w/ excellent benefits, target salary 75k. I was previously offered a job at another company where the 75k salary was guaranteed for the first year. Most people make much more than this once their comp fully ramps up, but, I would have to work in the office. I declined the offer, but now the CEO wants to meet with me several months later. Would I be crazy if I asked for 100k guaranteed salary?

Curious what the base and commission structure is for inside sales and associate director of sales in biotech (also anyone else who wants to share pls put industry). Paid hourly or salary? At the biotech company I work at avg inside sales is $62,632 with a $3500 per quarter cap. Commission structure is % based on sales quota reached vs capped (not a direct % of sales). I’m underpaid at $53000 with $3500 cap per quarter.

Hi folks,

Need your suggestions here!
Currently, I'm working as a PLSQL developer.
But I want to change my skillset. I don't want to continue as a database developer.

Any suggestions, which technology should I start learning, which has high demand in market.

I currently work in a Chief Internal Auditor role. I want to get a certification focused on IT audit both for knowledge, gaining credibility with my stakeholders in the IT audit space, and for when I look for a new role. I don’t have / won’t be able to get sufficient IT audit experience for the CISA designation at this stage. What designations, courses, or other options would you suggest?
