What jobs are currently paying 85k?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

It’s always okay to ask for more. The real question is what do you do when they say “no”. It sounds like you want this job, so you can ask, they’ll likely say “no” and you’ll probably take it anyway. It’s okay, everything’s a learning experience.
Ask for 75k, talk about your years of experience and the key skills you learned in your current role. If you get 70k or more, it's 10k more than you are making now. Just make sure you have a good idea what the company pays others for the similar role.
Trying to negotiate a bit more is the norm, not the exception.

Have you checked out what the average is for this role in your city? Also, try to research the company and see more about the range more specifically. I would go down the middle too and ask for $75k since that is the midpoint but only if you think that the offer they give you is low. Do you have any certificates or anything that would make you stand out from another candidate? Not saying you should say I have this cert so I should be paid more, just saying this would help you when researching.
