My rent is $1200 near Westheimer. I also have a storage unit for around $150. the bus 82 takes you right into downtown Travis/milam. not a d@mn thing wrong with public transportation you just have to know how to use it. I have a standing-scooter and bike to supplement for errands and could potentially live without a car if my job was downtown, but it's in the woodlands so can't. also I have two cars. you can get what you're looking for you just have to be smarter and also, you may need to make some sacrifices.
Well said!
Smallest floorplan Gables Citywalk, right off west Alabama, quick walk to the 82 bus route that runs to downtown. Will probably be around around $1400 a month. Be prepared for rates to be raised about $75 a year, but the location for the price is really good. Walking distance to Trader Joe’s, target, HEB and Wholefoods
Yes, I’ve lived there for multiple years, it’s safe. I’ve only heard of one break in. Wheels being stolen will happen literally anywhere in Houston. Nowhere is safe from that.
Sorry but you need a car to survive Houston
Dmed you
Trust me, you don’t want to take public transportation in Houston
Native Houstonian. Yeah we don’t have the best public transportation. But it’s still very convenient.
Yeah you need a car haha
Sheesh hmm
You need a car in Houston.
Check the area by Lakewood church
1400?? 🤯
Downtown rent + amenity fees plus utilities plus electric plus a lot of Uber
Including transportation, you’ll probably want to budget closer to 3000 a month
Consider a studio apartment
Buddy I am sorry to break this to you but public transport is not good or even reliable in Houston. If you want a cheap apartment, there are tons of good ones, but you will need a car.
I see
Yeah due to inflation the prices for an apartment are very expensive
I take that back, I paid $900 to live in a garage apartment for a while but it had a rat infestation and plants growing in through the windows. Also it was not near public transportation lol
Eastwood/East End off of Harrisburg. Lots of teachers and professors living here now, many without cars. My rent is $1000/mo and includes all utilities, and I’m a 3 minute walk to the metro rail and several bus stops. Cool bars and some good restaurants close by as well.

I live on Washington Ave and have a room available in August for that price. I am 5 minutes away from downtown via Washington Ave or Memorial Dr and experience no traffic even during peak traffic hours. DM me if you're interested.
Try The Domain at Kirby or hellolanding.com where you can rent any sunrises apartment in the country for $1495 but when someone books that unit at market price, you get a few days notice to leave and they put you in a different unit. Your challenge is that you don’t have a lot of budget but maybe you can sacrifice quality for cost.
Have you considered an apartment locator? They’d have a pulse on everything and a database with what you’re looking for and at no cost to you.
Gonna DM you. I’ve used him and he was awesome!!

I always made sure my apartments were near the red train line. It worked great for getting from the med center and rice village areas to downtown. 15 minute ride
