My ideal is the s1000r but it’s so expensive lol. I had a decent sized windshield on my FZ and never had a problem with long rides of a few hours at a time.
Gahhh I’m so excited to get back into the game
Don’t know much about SP model but typically pricier suspension means stiffer suspension for better track performance. In that case, if you’re commuting mostly the stock should be fine.
Iirc the fz09 is a triple, while the mt10 is an inline 4 based on the r1 engine. You might find a triple having more useable power for street riding, but liter bikes are more than fast enough once you get going.
Also, if you’re looking for comfort you could look at bikes with wind protection. I rode naked for years though and never minded!
So I have a few friends with naked bikes. None go extended distances but around town/twisties/track.
I've heard great things about the MT-09, so assume the 10 is a great choice. But also maybe consider the Street/Speed Triple and 790 SuperDuke. If you're riding longer distance the S1000R might be a good idea since it comes with cruise control etc
If you’re regularly making a 2hr + drive you may want to consider a sport tourer … not as sexy but way more comfortable and if you’re a good rider, you’ll have no issues on the twistiest with you friends.
The new Yamaha tracer (same triple as the MT09) is a sick bike.
-MT10sp is only worth it if you really wanna ride hard on the track or canyons, otherwise the suspension upgrade is a total waste.
MT10 is a great bike. IMO, there is no need for upgraded suspension. I demoed the stock suspension one at a track day and was breezing past the rest of the novice group. I normally ride advanced on an R1, but what I am saying is the limits of the MT10 stock will never be exceed on the street and you need to be running race times to exceed them on the track.
I did the same with an MT09 the following session. However, the MT10 is a little more planted and refined. Unless you are regularly tracking, minimal difference in performance. I’d suggest whatever you like more and which fits your budget.
