I just got promoted, and while I’m genuinely excited, I can’t shake this nagging feeling that I don’t actually deserve it. I keep thinking, “What if they made a mistake? What if I’m not as capable as they think?” It’s like no matter how hard I’ve worked, there’s this little voice in the back of my mind questioning if I’m good enough. I know imposter syndrome is common, especially for women in finance, but it still feels isolating. How do you deal with these feelings, especially after hitting big milestones? Any tips for quieting that self-doubt and owning your success?

You just have the shake the imposter syndrome out of your system. Remind yourself, as often as necessary, that you are in the position you're in because you're capable and people know that. You're not fooling the people who promoted you into the job, you're competent and you deserve to be there. Seriously, any time the self-doubt hits, just consciously remind yourself that you're good at what you do and people respect that.

I’m sure everyone can relate to this feeling but you have to remind yourself why you deserve this. Think of all the work you’ve done to lead to this achievement. Congratulations!

I’m graduating in December, with a background in environmental economics and policy. Consulting didn’t work out this cycle. Made it to final rounds for Bain and Kearney but in the end didn’t get an offer. I want to recoup and try again, but I’m worried that once I’m out of undergrad the door will be closed to starting in consulting.

What can I do to make this happen? I have friends and connections at Bain and Kearney and the other firms as well, but not sure if it’s feasible now.
