Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

Bain & Company I’m a PhD student looking to start in consulting and am looking to connect with other PhD/ADP consultants that went into consulting to learn more about the experience and how to prep for case interviews coming from a non-business background. Especially looking for advice on McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, and Bain & Company
PwC A recruiter from PWC reached out to me to ask if I’d consider a different office the one I applied to, since it’s full. It would be Boston, Hartford, Chicago, Minneapolis, Little Rock, Denver, San Francisco or San Jose. MSA candidate. Is there a fully remote option? Do you have to be in the office all the time? Is the compensation high at PWC? Is there a possible moving expenses? Any insight or advice would help me make a decision. Thank you!

Is there a reason why you're only considering consulting? It's worth to think about why you wanted to work there in the first place and where else can you apply to gain similar skills
Agree with MC1 (is that a title or a company?!). It’s easy to get pigeon holed into thinking consulting is the only path to success but honestly my MBB friends are all making half what I am making
It's not impossible to break into consulting once you're out of undergrad, it'll probably just be a little harder. In other words, you'll need to grind to make sure you're staying up to date on the industry and really prove your worth. It'll also help tremendously if you know someone who can refer you or - ideally - mentor you. Start making those connections now and keep nurturing them. Reach out to some Stanford alum and see if anyone would be willing to help you out when the time comes.
You can always transition over later. Just find a role that builds transferable skills, as others said.
This is probably your best bet.
Consulting is pretty evergreen tbh, in fact you might be MORE in demand if you have a lot of other experience that you can apply.

You definitely have a chance. Just focus first on building your experience. And start networking as early as possible.
You can still get in after working elsewhere for a couple of years. I cased with someone who just got into Kearney after working abroad. Keep applying to all the firms. If you made it to final rounds you can probably go all the way.
