I just received a 50k job offer from a big bank for an Asset Management shareholder services analyst position. Is this a good amount? I have another offer from a corporate retailer for 70k for a financial analyst position. The banks benefits are unmatched and that’s why I am even considering taking the 50k. They give a 7k sign on bonus with 3k commission typically earned on top of the 50k. For reference I have a Finance degree from a pretty well known business school and 2 years of internships.

My sign on bonus (20 even) a few months ago was taxed nearly 45%! Excuse my ignorance, but am I doing something wrong? Will increasing deductions help or should I increase the withholdings?
