Well, anyone associated with the AI “Holidays are coming” ad deserves to be fired.
Laughing at you ^ because not all jobs can be done 100% with AI. Copy can and is already
Coke has changed agencies so many times and they are making it obvious they are trying to lower agency fees by putting it review.
They are a notoriously horrible client.
They really are something for sure
Honestly kids… It’s just going to come down to the three biggies (OMC, WPP, PUB).
The major difference “this” time (beyond cost, of course) they are going to go with whoever has the strongest integrated commerce platform.
Retail media is now 20% of total NA media spent and the fastest growing share stealer of any media platform since digital came out.
In the US, the big 12 grocers are now pulling some heavy punches and mandating mandatory on site support or they are pulling listings allegedly as part of their JBP process.
If you follow their stock, you will know that Coke are having surprisingly strong growth latest 6 and 12 by digital at the core of operations by using predictive AI to analyze local data, optimize store orders, and build highly personalized marketing campaigns both on and off platform.
This is one of the main reasons PUB snapped up Mars Inc and why they are quadrupling down on the outbound PR on their expertise in the space, not to mention good old Catalina data.
OMC had Flywheel/OMNI and OMG will go into hyperdrive black boxing predictive models by retailer, by geography, by shopper segment.
WPP Commerce is late to the table but they poached some super smart peeps from Omnicom Commerce (TL, etc) and while brand building will play a role (especially in the growing premium and sugar-free sparkling segments) it’s going to come down to who can prove tbrough attribution, how they can make Coke the most $$$.
After this RFP, the majority of NA CPG will mirror the process.
Of course tbe winners will always suffer,
WPP makes sense as they do Pepsi but had heard they were trying to do competitive carve outs. It’s a two horse race then.
WPP been moving so weird lately …

Ah yes large agencies, historically notorious carers of their people.
Coke advertising has been terrible lately. The best thing they’ve done is show an image of a crumpled can with the line “recycle me”. Ironically it was 🗑️

But they saved the planet from all that pollution that *checks notes* Coca Cola created.
Is this true? Didn’t publicis just win the coke business like a year or two ago?
No. They won US media. WPP still owns everything else globally, including the other US capabilities
Those large media accounts are very often not profitable and the agencies take them on for larger negotiation tactics with partners or to impress prospective clients.
Didn’t Publicis win the media business 18 months ago?
This is a global review. They only won US.
Announced today by who?
:) me obviously, here at least
