Having every airline and many direct flights daily to big cities and even regular flights to small airports is much more important than the extra 20 min in pre check sometimes and 10-12 in the train.
Airport food is not good though, I’ve tried every terminal and am not impressed. Some other airports are much better.
Atl has cheaper flights than small airports and that’s all I care about though
Idk guys say what you will, I love Hartsfield. It's the most efficient airport. I love the plane train. Everything makes sense. The layout is easy to understand and navigate. The lines are always the fastest and most organized of anywhere else I've been. I feel like I can rely on this airport wanting to get me where I need to go. Can't say I trust any other airport this much
Agree with this
I lived for years in other big cities, and had to deal with their airports. ATL is very efficient, so long as you love Delta. We are lucky to have it.
Love the ATL Airport. I have seen all those top ranked airports in terms of service - Doha, Dubai, Singapore. They are mostly just flashy and focus on customer experience rather than efficiency. ATL Airport is super functional and I like that international is separated out - folks are tired, jetlagged, nervous if you are a first timer in the country, and it helps not to overwhelm them. Domestic travelers are more accustomed to the busy nature of US travel.
You’re weird. ATL is a chaotic nightmare and feels like a mall inside a pressure cooker.
I don’t understand why people complain about Hartsfield-Jackson. Depending on your gate it can be a “hike” but it’s overall streamlined and straightforward to navigate. If you fly regularly and are just even a touch curious you find hacks to make it easier on yourself too like never use the Clear line. 😂
The “linear” design of the airport is terrible - particularly terminal F - arrivals and then a long walk plus train ride (if the train is running) is shockingly bad. Consolidating security at the terminal is awful, massive lines and if there’s an issue total gridlock
Across all US airport, ATL has by far the worst TSA people - surly, work at a snails pace and god help you if you have an issue. Some of these individuals refuse to move their hands to receive your ID and will just sit there until you put it in their hands - horrible attitudes.
This is exactly why I like it. The linear design.
Love it. Love that I can go to any terminal by walking or train without going back out to security. It makes total sense in my brain. I fly Delta 99% of the time. Also happy to see they are building more parking onsite.
So the layout is terrible—but I do love coming home to Atlanta and getting greeted by the mayor on the big monitor above the escalators that head up to baggage claim/exits. And once I had a great experience when I returned from flying internationally and a bunch of workers were guiding people to the immigration and they were saying “welcome home to Atlanta” to everyone. It warmed my heart ❤️.
I’m in the middle. It’s generally efficient and pretty easy to know where to go. However, the amount you need to walk to get anywhere is so much. I know it’s the biggest airport but I HATE the walk to the rideshare area. I dread it every time I come home.
In 2022 I was flying to Austin for work a lot and those flights would always be the last gate in the terminal. I landed once after a loooong day, walked down the entire terminal, plane train was down, walked half a mile to get to the baggage claim, walked another 15 min to get to my uber.
I’ve been to other airports big & small, and my favorites are just the ones where I can consistently get to where I need to go really quickly.
I will give you that - when I’m using ride share at ATL I grumble but not sure exactly what I would suggest to make it better because at least with the walk the drivers aren’t stuck waiting in any arrivals/departure traffic.
Did taxi pick up change? That’s one of my biggest gripes. It’s far to get an uber or Lyft. Taxis getting pushed out too.
