This won’t be particularly useful but I mean this genuinely. Go where they party or spend their nights out. You will not believe how easy it is to network when you’re doing that together. The network literally builds itself. And when I say party, I don’t mean clubs. I mean follow the people who regularly go for drinks and where they go etc. You’re never going to make any legitimate connections by going to events. Not really anyway. And if you do, it wont be the ones that really make any difference
The only tip I would have would be to have an “in”. Whether that’s knowing just one person who knows another person or something like that. Have a reason to be there and don’t just turn up to one of those places and hope to make connections. I know it sounds so stupid but the only way to network is to be there and not look like you’re trying to network. Remember why the people you want to meet are there. They’re there to spend time with their friends and NOT network. BUT to answer your question, most agencies typically have a local. That’s not always very reliable as it doesn’t mean the people you’d like to meet would be there but it’s a start. Other option is where the production company folks hang out and that could very well be just about anywhere. Pubs in a Shoreditch are always an easy bet.
