I often thinks of many of my coworkers as NPCs. They kind of do the same thing every day, and talk about the same topics, and nothing changes in their lives. They don’t do much work either, and always describe it the same way.
Does anyone else have coworkers like this?

What do you do for winter shoes and commuting?

I walk a total ~20 mins in between train/bus stations and then getting from the stop in the loop to the office.

What do I do come wintertime for boots? Do you wear them while you're in the office? Or do you bring dress shoes with you to change in to? I wear a suit to work, so what boots would be good for winter but also look decent with a suit? This is my first winter in Chicago (a socal transplant)

What is considered business casual in SF? Is it suit with no tie or Polo and chinos?

Random question, my boss wants me to become a notary so I can handle notarizing all of the official documents myself. Has anyone else been asked to do this for their employer? Is it ethical?

I got reprimanded by a man for having an uninspired point of view of a conference call. He then gave me his inspired POV...which was exactly the same. When I pointed that out he said, “huh. Maybe.”

As a manager, how do you expect your employee to deal with a diffcult customer?

My senior associate takes 1 week to get back to me with comments and then tells me that I need to turn the document asap. This has happened several times already and I’ve had to pull all nighters to meet these insane deadlines when it’s clear that they just waited until the very last minute to get back to me… any advice? Feel like I’m burning out

I have accepted an offer for the role of Director of Data Science & Analytics and I'll be working with old colleagues. I am very excited. I haven't given notice yet because I am waiting for the background check to complete, but my boss just asked me about traveling to a meeting in November. I start at the new job Oct 25. I’ve been working for a small investment firm for about a year and am having some issues with my boss. We have a weekly check-in but he’s ALWAYS 2-3 hours late, or skips the meeting altogether without warning. He also never replies to any of the emails I send. I’m in this business to cure my inferiority complex. Making lots of money, working with fortune 500 clients and walking the streets of NYC with a suit, tie and briefcase makes me feel important and worthy.

Several years ago a gay male acquaintance said he didn't date Black guys. It made me bristle but I was not surprised. Now he's married to one. I feel in a way vindicated every time I see his loving social media posts with his Black husband of like 5 years or so now.
