I can tell you that trying to address this person 1:1 after they have tried to speak up is likely not the right approach, but is the feedback something that can be improved upon? I'd start there and slowly rebuild.
That’s a really fair point. Jumping into a 1:1 might feel performative if past concerns were dismissed
I assume the person brought things up and they were never really addressed. I suppose the only solution to that is to try to be attentive when concerns are first brought up. But, in the usual day to day workings of a business, not everything is going to be addressed. But perhaps making a conscious and concerted effort to listen to employee concerns early on would be helpful.
It really does come down to making people feel seen the first time they speak up... not just after things escalate.
