Honestly, just read the room. If your supervisor has never been supportive, don’t expect them to change. Leave asap. It happened to me. It made it easier to lay me off. I kinda expected it, because I hated working there. Fortunately, I started looking immediately, so I found a job before I got my first unemployment check.
Ironically, I had to give a PIP to someone who wasn’t working out at my new job, but I worked with him. He just wasn’t a good creative, but he’s a great on the account side. He’s still with the agency 3 years later.
I know what it’s like, so I would never use it to purposely hurt someone.
Start looking now. PIPs are typically what companies use to cover their ass before they let you go.
My advice is to try to get out of it, but put a lot more effort finding your next job. Good luck!
Most people barely make it 30-45 days after they receive a PIP. I suggest looking for a new job and always perform your best. Good luck!
I’d start looking. At such a large agency, your manager has already spoken to hr and they are now in check the box so we don’t get sued mode.
Start looking for a new one!
I’m coming after them for discrimination for my mental health - please DM me once you get the chance!
Hey I know this must be a really stressful time, I'd suggest that you start applying as we’re still in Q3 and there are some projects that could potentially still need new staff. Remember, its still about who you know so definitely teach out to your network to the let them know you're starting to look for a new role. You can also take this time as an opportunity to upskill or pivot in your career, (e.g., do you want to go client-side, do you want to try a consumer agency?). I hope it works out.
Ideally you would do both. Try to leave as soon as possible and still try to do your best at the job. I was put on one before and was stuck at that place another 18 months before I found something else. It's not the end of the world and it doesn't mean you're a bad employee but leaving is probably in your best interest.
Make a complaint about them to the EEOC too! They will have the power to investigate your claims
I’m gonna DM you tomorrow - need to talk
