I received an offer for a lateral position at a firm that I really want to work for. No red flags. The billable hour requirement is 135/month while I consistently hit 170+ right now. I’m so close to burnout. New firm has monthly bonuses for exceeding billable requirements, but the base salary they offered is $20k less than I’m currently making. I’m going to try to negotiate to match my current pay, but I’m still tempted even if they don’t match it. Am I crazy for considering taking a pay cut?

Regardless, this sounds like an easy yes. If you’re close to burn out, get out. You have a solid plan B locked and loaded.

For those looking to move back to India, does it make sense to withdraw 401(k) given the 10% penalty is being waived off at the moment? And you have a 3 yr window to pay tax on the withdrawal.
