That's not an uncommon scenario. It seems like the hiring process has become so impersonal that people are often treated pretty rudely. A lot of job applicants report being ghosted, sometimes even after being interviewed. That just seems bizarre, you would think after spending time with someone you'd have the courtesy to give them an honest answer instead of just ignoring them.
Yes, I believe the hiring mgr sees people with tenure in HR as a threat or as “old”.
I have seen the same. I was in HR for 3 yrs, applied to 150 jobs and I get responses but its always thank you for applying but we are considering other candidates

It is frustrating when experienced professionals encounter silence after applying. Hiring processes have changed a lot, and many organisations rely heavily on automated screening before any human response happens.
You need to network with groups who perform your role or above. Also with executive recruiters who are known in the industry that have direct exposure to CEOs or startups who has a board that has direct responsibility in the hiring process. You can use your LinkedIn connections who may know about opportunities before they are posted.
You need a godfather. Is there someone who knows your work ethic and skills? Being in this business for 25 years, I bet there is that someone or someones. Have these references draft a letter for you. They might even know your new CEO. Let’s get them connected to share the great news about you! Let us know how it goes!! Good Luck!!!
Yes - it’s the new norm. If you think about it, it’s a waste of resources just to massage egos by acknowledgement. If there’s no interest there’s no interest. As you know, the demands on the organization require we only focus on value-added work. I’d challenge anyone to find the business case for continuing this practice, and how it impacts the bottom line.
Unfortunately very common. Remember 40% of those roles you applied to were either data collection only. (Meaning no real job existed) or they were scans. So sad you have to go through it. It’s brutal
