What to do?

This is precisely why after 20 years of retail, I can’t do it anymore - being cussed at, and and otherwise verbally harassed over things that are out of our control has worn me down and I need to escape the toxic environment. Too many entitlement issues with folks! If you didn’t read the final sale sign, that’s on ~you~ folks!!

It's just part of modern life, people feel a need to post rage-baiting social media videos. People should be protesting against ICE, but you're right that hassling employees on the sales floor isn't going to accomplish much. The people at the top of the government fomenting the chaos will just enjoy that it creates more anger and division.

I hadn’t heard about that. Misplaced anger and frustration for sure. I wish there were more common sense, but working with the general public hasn’t proved that true over the years. I’ve been approached with many issues that were hugely out of my control at work.
That hits the nail on the head. We are trained to be calm and empathetic and just let the customer rant a bit, but that is incredibly difficult to do! Happens more than people realize, and it’s not easy. 100% wears even the nicest and best people down.
