Hi all,
Do firms match offers from other Big 4s for campus hires? I’ve received a campus offer from both KPMG and EY. I’m more interested in the EY offer, but they are paying 3k less than KPMG.
Would it be a bad move to let them know about the other offer and try negotiating? I feel it wont make a difference in the long run, but at the same time I don’t want to leave any money on the table if possible.
Thanks!

Use your brain and ask
Chief
Good advice, thanks
I haven't ever worked for a company that gives out bonuses either. You can always ask during your interview. It is very normal to ask about bonuses and full compensation during the interview process.
Chief
Is it a normal thing to ask? I’d feel too awkward asking about a bonus directly
Companies bake them into their compensation package. Ask the recruiter/hiring manager and they will know. Depends on the business you work for. When I switched jobs it was very clear.
Chief
Thanks, I’ll definitely just ask the recruiter in the future
A lot of job postings will give an overview of comp and benefits, including whether they have bonuses.
Chief
I haven’t noticed bonuses being listed on the job ads before
Or just assume you’ll never get one and ask for a higher base pay; usually the recruit can tell you the % and if there’s a guaranteed bonus. Obviously it might reduce your base pay a bit
Chief
That’s a good idea actually, I’ll have to do that going forward, thanks
Is that really the most important thing for taking a new role?
Chief
What, earning more money? Yes, I would say that’s the most important thing
The question is….
Bonus for what?
Achievement of goals/targets?
Pay in lieu of overtime?
No one should expect a bonus for working a 9-5 normal job and/or without some added value
Chief
Bonus for achieving goals and targets, which I have done
