Who in this group does groups with Eureka Math?
I am a full time teacher and have an online tutoring platform. I am looking for math teachers for the platform as we are currently at capacity. This is a way to supplement your income doing what you are best at. We do all the leg work, you just show up and shine your light. If interested, email me at aimee.buckley@study.help

I used guided notes with my middle schoolers this year. I printed the notes ahead of time, and we filled them in/did example problems together (during online, hybrid, and full in person). It was SO much faster than having them write everything down like we did in previous years. Also helped the, do notes at home during online and hybrid. I think if they had to write everything themselves, many wouldn’t have done it.
Guided notes for which subject, ELA or Math by any chance?? Do you use a template or Cornell or...?
I think you really need both. Virtual interaction makes things accessible and helps you target a specific skill while letting the computer take care of other skills needed for that targeted skill. Plus there’s often immediate feedback. (I am a HUGE lover of Desmos activities.)
On the other hand, pencil and paper is a great way of helping students work out the steps and practice the routine of problem-solving. So I think if it’s possible to utilize all methods, they each have a place and a purpose.
I love love love interactive notebooks!! & I feel like so much was lost last year because everything was done digitally. Things done involving note-taking took so much more time if done on a device. :/ My advice would be to take your time in training your kids on your expectations. Guide them, show examples, maybe have them do their annotations in pairs or groups to start and/or have them share their additions with others. I also teach math and I’ve found if we put the time in at the beginning, the time is never wasted!
Thank you! I do enjoy the immediate feedback / grading, but hated the "constant monitoring" because I was teaching hybrid (20 students - 11 online).
I often want my students to use paper and pencils and I use the interactive notebooks. You can have the students screen shot their work and place in in their notebook. This allows you to comment on their work as well.
I agree. My school uses the Carnegie/Mathia math program which usually consists of two days online and the rest of the week paper & pencil. They need both!
