I think it reveals a way for individuals to finally take back what companies have taken advantage of from their employees for years. I’m tired of having to play the game and chase dangled carrots only to be given a 2% raise year after year and being looked over for promotions, esp given inflation. The cards are stacked against us. This is one way we can take back our power
Absolutely. Years of free labor, no raises, no recognition, no support for growing families or those who are simply caretaking parents, lack of mental health care, overall it’s been an absolute hostile sh*t show and this is our right. If this work is getting done, and no one is burning themselves out then why not
The job market is definitely messed up and overemployment is definitely a way people are taking back their power. When I was overemployed I made sure it was for a period of time; like 6 months to fulfill a contract or taking on more work to pay off debt or fulfill a goal of some sort. Of course I’ve read stories of people doing it for years but I can’t imagine the stress of doing it that long-term.
