I tried to avoid a customer by acting like I was busy and he didn’t want to deal with anyone but me. Get into the transaction and he wanted to be cheap! I had to explain how cheap doesn’t mean good quality, I convinced him to get a better product and he went with it.
Knowledge saved the day!!!

It's nice that he wanted to work with you. You must be somebody he deemed trustworthy, even enough to accept an upgrade and pay more. Great job!

Yesss! I love that your knowledge and patience paid off, and you turned a tricky moment into a win! I’ve definitely dodged a customer before only to end up being the one who had to close it. What’s your go-to tip for keeping cool when someone’s being difficult?

I let them talk. Even if it has nothing to do with the reason they are in my store. While they are talking I find multiple options for the customer once they’re finish talking I provide them with my options and make a recommendation and give them an explanation on why I recommended that product. Most time they just want to talk and vent so just try to listen

It's funny when people will ONLY deal with me, and I know that they would get a better deal if they went with someone else. Because, if they will only deal with me, I am less likely to give a discount that one of my employees would happily give.

You gotta stand on business lol the customers will forever love you with or without the discounts

Nice save! Funny how the ones you try to dodge always come back around—but hey, you turned it into a win.

That’s a win for sure. He wanted to compare prices with the PX and missed our sale and said it was my fault but he came back and got him a better item then the one I originally showed him

That sounds like one of those situations that was just meant to be. I've been there! Sometimes a customer just targets me, for some inexplicable reason. And those conversations and transactions always seem to be something unusual. I always get a kick out of trying to get them to see the value of something they hadn't been thinking about. It's important to keep yourself amused, after all.

Seriously! This guy came into the store three times two out of the three times I assisted him. The first time the device was on sale the second time the sale ended this time give me something compared to this (model number provided with no other information). Making me do extra work, I was determined to get him to make a purchase

Once when I was waiting tables, I had a guy pay me cash. The change was 45 cents, which I didn't give back to him because like who wants that. Back when I was getting started in the food world, I worked flipping burgers at In-n-Out. A man came in and said the burgers he had gotten weren’t right. He dumped the food on the counter and then he started throwing them back behind the counter. We gave him a refund and then his demeanor completely changed. He was calmer and he told us to have a great day as he left us to clean up the mess he made.
