I was asked to "stick to the policy" on something that felt completely unfair.

I believe policies guide us, but people need us to think.

Have you ever bent a rule for the right reason?

I wouldn't say I've bent a rule. But there have been times when I may or may not have overlooked some ridiculous provision. There are times when it's just better to not be a stickler for things. But in most situations it is actually better to stick to policy, as there's usually a good reason why the policy exists. More or less.

Totally get that. I’ve had those moments too where something just feels overly rigid or outdated, and using a bit of common sense feels like the right call. But yes—policies exist for a reason, even if we occasionally squint past the fine print!

Sometimes you've got to use common sense. The policy's don't include every situation and are often out dated.

Absolutely agree. Policies are a guide, but real-life situations don’t always fit neatly into them. Sometimes you need to apply a bit of judgment and humanity to get the best outcome.

Depends on the situation etc and what the policy states as yes it can be outdated and needs to be reviewed but it is obviously in there for a reason.

I am a stickler for policy so I usually follow them. However, like others said it is true that they can be outdated. If I was told to stick to the policy after explaining my position though, I would probably just stick to the policy.

That’s fair. Following policy keeps things consistent, even when it feels outdated. But I get the frustration—sometimes you’re just trying to do what makes sense, and “the rules” don’t quite catch up

Currently sitting in my sweatpants with a full groutfit. Rediscovered a pair of blue sweatpants that I left at my parent’s place during the holidays and brought that back. Have a similarly colored soft blue hoodie that I wear with it. Now I alternate between my groutfit and bloutfit biweekly to synchronize with my laundry schedule. I go outside wearing it too. Should I be proud or concerned???
