Yes, this is a negotiating tactic. Be persistent, call and email daily, asking for updates and document it. Sorry you’re going through this, been there in the exact situation.
In today’s economy, if you have a family and parents aren’t well off, you’re not in a position to negotiate. The possibility of losing even paltry severance to try for more strikes fear in most people. “Lawyering up” costs, fighting for months with severance stalled is not an option. Bills don’t stall as you await the outcome.
Companies know this and count on people accepting a paltry severance. I was with a company over 20 years, only got 10 weeks.
I was advised to take it and be happy they gave me anything.
Lawyers work on contingency
Name and shame
Hire a lawyer. It’s been going on for over a year for me
So they’re saying it will take until end of August / early September cause they’re getting approvals through the chain. Obviously have no way to verify other than trusting them. Anything I can do? Someone I’ve been working with in HR said she’s never seen this in 20 years in the biz.
You should talk to a lawyer. Do not trust the company under any certain terms. Hire a lawyer. They will do a free consult. They do this all the time. I went through this and left comments above. Talk to a lawyer.
