I was supposed to have an interview in a few hours, but I just received an email from the interviewer asking to reschedule, because they didn't realize what day it was, and it would be a bad time to hire someone. What the heck is that supposed to mean? Red flag or what?

Tell me this isn't a Friday the 13th thing. Please. For my sanity and faith in humanity. If that's what they're hinting at and if they're actually serious, they should be fired immediately.

I’m more interested in their reasoning for rescheduling if they aren’t actively hiring. Not sure if something spur of the moment changed, but I probably would back out now before wasting a bunch of time with them.

Assuming it's a Friday the 13th thing, it would depend on whether you are comfortable working for someone with that level of superstition. And did they offer other dates and times? If it's generally "a bad time to hire someone" then they should not be conducting interviews at all.

Your interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you. If it doesn't feel right to you then don't continue.

I've done so well in this new role within the company that they are hiring another person to assist with what I do. I've voiced to my boss that I'd like to manage this department and they indicated that this is the thought for the future. Now they are asking me to train this person while I have my plate full. Is it wrong for me to expect either a promotion or to be paid to train this person?

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!
